Una Cosa Latina! (A Latin Thing!)
By Lorraine Kaczorowski
Over the more recent years, the frequency of Stephen Stills solo
tours/shows have been sparse. The bulk of his shows have been
perennial CSN tours. Off the top of my head, Stills more recent
solo forays were 98, 95, 93, 86, 80 & 79.
These days to see him solo at all is a rare treat. In a good mood,
clearly enjoying playing music with his band of strong musicians,
rocking out, in good vocal form and giving the crowds great shows;
is a job well done!
They did several powerhouse blues numbers, Son House's classic
"Death Letter, "Born Under a Bad Sign", and The Temptations, "Can't
Get Next to You" which absolutely slays everytime. Stephen and
Finns serve up the blues so tasty and the band is very tight.
When Finns takes over the vocals, Stills can focus on his guitar
work. He explored the songs with his caravan of guitars and even
played some slide for us during "Death Letter", mighty fine indeed.
One of my favorites "Make Love to You", tore it up each nite...
fantastic interpretations.
The Stephen Stills Band made the crowd feel that they were "in
a smoke filled bar", indeed.
