I purchased the Special Edition DVD of THE LAST WALTZ I highly recommend it. We finally get to see Stephen Stills perform with his colleagues on the classic stage of the Winterland. This brief footage can be found in the Special Features section of the disc - in *Jam 2; which is a blues jam. Neil Young is center stage playing off of Levon Helm, with Ringo Starr doubling up. Ronnie Wood is playing slide and Paul Butterfield is on harmonica. The jam is underway, and you wonder is Stephen gonna show? On the right side of the screen you see Bill Graham "push" Stephen out on the field....(along with a heine pat)... sans guitar. He greets a smiling Levon with a handshake, as Levon skillfully keeps time. For a brief moment Stephen plays air guitar till Robbie Robertson appears and hands Stephen his guitar, plugs him in and gives him a pick! Stephen slips right into the groove and gets a brief stint with Neil, face to face... Next thing you know the screen goes black and a paragraph appears stating that the film ran out during the jam!
