Amalie R. Rothschild's wonderful depiction of the fillmore east
would be a great holiday gift for any rock music afficionado.

I highly recommend this glorious book, available
in both hardcover and softcover.

Amalie's very complete coverage makes her audience
really "feel" the sounds, colors and scents or the venue.

are among the most thrilling in rock, and the two took each other to
undiscovered musical waters throughout the show."

Spent the weekend with the BRIDGE SCHOOL WEBCAST!!!
I must say, it was the best webcast transmission I have experienced
to date.

Saturday Night 10/28/00
I joined the webcast during
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
They were in good spirits, and did an excellent set.

Next up Dave Mathews Band and NEIL YOUNG
joined him on a beautiful reading of Neil's
Cortez the Killer

After Mathews set, Neil's "Family and Friends" graced the stage.

They rolled through the following songs:

Are You Ready For the Country
..This was glorious
Old Man
I was expecting CSN to kick in on this one as guests...
Daddy Went A Walkin'
Heart of Gold
Razor Love
Red Sun
Tonight's the Night

After that set during the webcast there was a brief interview
with Astrid Young. Then there was an even shorter Graham Nash
and Astrid Q&A.

Next up was

CSNY

Helpessly Hoping
Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Dream For Him
Slowpoke
After the Gold Rush
Teach Your Children
Love the One Your With

They guys sounded GREAT! And the transmission for me
was only interupted shortly during OLCBYH.

It was great to hear OLCBYH again. During the 2000 tour
they stopped playing it in the set early on in the tour.
(I was glad I caught it in Detroit).

Sunday Night 10/29/00

This is what I caught of the webcast tonight.
Another beautiful "Cortez" by Mathews and Young
A very brief Q&A by a Bridge School student with
David and Graham.

then

Neil Young Family and Friends

Words
*Stunning*

Old Man

(Lorraine and Ramiro hit the road towards home from the shop)
Back home in time for the CSNY set in progress.

I stepped in at the end of

DREAM FOR HIM
Thank GOD just in time for the TREAT....
Neil introduced Crosby, Stills and Nash
and they kicked into
SUITE: Judy Blue Eyes
Can you say Beauty!?!

Of course during this peak moment there was net congestion
But I heard most of the song. Big surprise that they did this tonight

Good for you Stephen!!!!!!

They were in good shape.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN

LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH

- end -

Pegi and Neil G'nite

See you next year!!

What a great way to start a new week.

The 14th Annual Bridge School Benefit will be webcast!!!

09/13/00 When people think of the BIG festivals, the immediate ones that come to mind are
Monterey Pop, Woodstock, Altamont, Watkins Glenn, etc...
But on this day we commemorate a very special festival to us CSNY fans.

The 1969 Monterey Folk Festival.

It was held on September 13th and 14th, 1969, at

the Esalen Institute in Big Sur California.
It was captured on film and released to the public in a concert film called
"Celebration at Big Sur."

This festival also spawned the first "official" bootleg CSNY record, the infamous
"Wooden Nickel"

(Subsequently, years later, some fans in Italy decided to dedicate their
time to putting out a CSNY fanzine and they called it
"Wooden Nickel.")

This film, which used to run frequently on american television in the 70's, has
never been released officially for home video.

I wish the film would be officially released. It is a must have for every CSNY collector.

It is a classic period piece, from the ultimate CSNY footage of
"Sea of Madness" and "Down By the River",
as well as the Crosby, Stills, Nash, Joni Mitchell
and John Sebastian rendition of
Dino Valenti's aka Chet Powers

"Let's Get Together."

Movie still from the film "Celebration at Big Sur" ©

That particular performance is a cherished moment in time
that for me can always put a smile on my face, as the music makes
you feel as though you are part of the community.
These scenes define for me the epitomy of the CSNY sound.

Stephen Stills and John Sebastian
picking some acoustic blues with "Bullfrog Blues." Seeing Joni debut her "new"
song "Woodstock", about a festival that had happened in NY just a few short weeks
prior.

In the uncut version of the film, they depict the footage in the baths, with
David Crosby, John Sebastian, Carl Gottlieb, among others; communing with nature
and singing in the buff!

I love Dorothy Morrison and the Comb Sister's performances,
"All of God's Children Got Soul," and the group show closer
"Oh Happy Day." Their spirit transcends the moment and the viewer is uplifted.

Then their is the infamous heckler scene with Stephen, and the other guys
"lovin him out of the confrontation," to be segued into the Stills rap about
"pretty guitars and fancy guitars"...

Please read an account of the festival as it was reported in

ROLLING STONE - BIG SUR Article October 1969.

AUGUST 2000

08/05/00 From this week's July 31st, 2000 issue of POLLSTAR:

Lorraine's analysis:
Below are my thoughts on the stats posted re: CSNY 2000

CSNY have been knocked off the top 50 North American tours listings as of this week. It was a good run, with high grosses and capacities. Unfortunately they needed to do more dates... (hint hint) to remain on the charts against the other large grossing acts. Metallica, Bruce and George Strait Country Music Fest are now topping the charts in the 1-3 positions.

The week of February 28th, 2000 CSNY entered the top 50 tours chart, based on 10 shows; at number 2.

Average gross: 992,764
Average tickets: 13,285
Average price: $74.73

Last week, July 24th, 2000 was CSNY's last week on the top 50 tours chart, based on 10 shows; at number 2.

Average gross: 1,487,799
Average tickets: 19,170
Average price: $77.61

Over the past months (Feb-July) CSNY fluctuated between 1st-3rd place.

Overall a wonderful run and I hope they do it again!!!

Please visit "What's Going Down" July 2000 for a full midyear review of the CSNY 2000 tour.

I'm curious to see what sort of numbers Neil's pending tour with bring. The tour commences this week in Virginia Beach. Like the CSNY tour, his tour is being promoted by TNA and SFX. With high ticket prices, I expect Neil to be back on this top 50 tour chart shortly.

JULY 2000

07/13/00 Today is the 15th anniversary of LIVE AID

and

CSNY's infamous "reunion" there.

I remember I was working that day.
At that time, I worked in a natural foods restaurant in Queens.
It was a sweltering Saturday and I passed on going to Philly for the show,
that some friends were going to.
Little did I know CSNY were slated to do a guest appearance.
Ramiro called me at work to drop the news...and I left the phone call in tears,
upon hearing the news.

East coast chances to see ANY CSNY performances... were non-existant...
He taped the audio from the radio broadcast and video taped the television broadcast.
That evening we settled infront of the tube and watched the replay.

07/07/00 HOT off the press!!!

The POLLSTAR Mid-Year Special Edition

It just arrived here.

Check out the cover....

Issue dated: July 3rd, 2000

suitelorraine.com blowup of cover

They depict the top concert acts performing this year.

Tina, Clarence, Bruce, Ricky, KISS .... and CSNY !!!

This is FAB news

I do have a BIG gripe with the photo used.
It is a shot of Neil in the centre flanked by Stephen and David.
Graham is barely shown, only partially on the side of Stephen
with his back facing forward.
CSNY should have be represented properly; respectfully showing all 4 frontally.

None-the-less KUDOS going out to ALL the guys for a stellar tour....
and for making the COVER!!!

TNA (The Next Adventure), the CSNY 2000 Tour Promoter and SFX
(who during the course of the scheduling of the tour,
ate up TNA and folded it into the SFX conglomerate.)

They took out a full page ad in this special issue of POLLSTAR.

It is a lovely ad congratulating the guys and the production staff...

"Special thanks to Elliot Roberts, Frank Gironda, Gerry Tolman, Marsha Vlasic,
Donald "Duck" Dunn, Jim Keltner, Mike Sexton, Eric Johnson, Craig Sneiderman,
Tim Foster, Mason Wilkinson, and the entire CSNY staff and crew."

They bill it....

a TRIUMPHANT RETURN!!

*another suitelorraine.com exclusive news item*

The next few entries are more of the CSNY 2000 coverage in this issue of the concert hotwire... POLLSTAR

"When fans feel a tour is truly a special event, they will pay a stiff premium to be a part of it. The highly successful CSNY tour is a perfect example. Of course, when the public doesn't feel something is a landmark occasion worthy of busting the piggy bank, as in the Diana Ross & the Supremes tour, the result is vast oceans of empty seats."

CSNY 2000 WAS A LANDMARK OCCASION INDEED !!!!
