Cathryn meets the guys!
Thanks for the collage and story! It's a C&N love-fest... Lorraine

September 19, 2001: Chronicle Pavilion, Concord CA.
A dream finally came true!
I actually got to meet Graham, who I absolutely idolize...
AND, his compadres, David and Stephen. Never expected to get to meet
all three of them. I hear that doesn't happen very often and I feel
extremely blessed! Graham told me he would leave After Show Passes for
me and my hubby. Of course I asked him for them, he didn't call me up
and ask if I wanted them or anything! I needed to be proactive and I
was. Could hardly believe it when Will Call actually had them for me,
but then again, GN is a man of his word. Almost passed out from a major
adrenalin rush, which stuck around for a few days! Loved the show, but
then again I always do! Could watch and listen to them live every day;
twice even! Knowing I was about to meet GRAHAM was a feeling beyond Joy!

High points of the evening:
being there
the music and fans
After Show Passes
Two hugs from Graham
* A KISS from Graham (I asked for that too)
a HUG from Stephen
a visit with David
being gifted with Grahams guitar pick from the show!
finding out Graham's daughter has the same birthday as me
and of course the photos and memories/ pure magic
Can you tell how high I was flying from the pictures? Thanks for
reading and looking. Peace and Love to you all! :-)

Stars and Stripes: Special Issue Entertainers who pitched in with money and more.

Where We Were and What We Did:
Theses quotes were compiled in US Magazine by Todd Gold.
Quotes:
September 11th, 2001
GRAHAM NASH: "We were in Denver, and a stockbroker friend there called me at 7am
and said, 'I hate to wake you, but you'd better turn on your tv.' So I did, and was stunned.
I immediately went from a dream state to a dreamlike state. It just didn't seem real."

GRAHAM NASH: "I called (David) Crosby, who is usally the first
person I talk to in terms of something like this. Not that there's ever been anything like this."

DAVID CROSBY: "We all got together and said, 'Let's go home. Our families are scared.
We're scared. And we want to be with our familes.' There weren't any planes, so we rented buses.
Before we left, I was walking outside and someone was walking toward me. It was k.d. lang. She told
me she was stranded. She was supposed to play the same place as us the night after, but it had
been canceled and she couldn't fly out. I gestured to our bus and said, 'Madam, my coach
awaits us. Get your stuff.'"

September 13th, 2001
STEPHEN STILLS: "As I watched the faces of the firemen working at Ground Zero, I
realized when they 're covered with ash, the faces of our heroes are all the same color.
"

September 16th, 2001
DAVID CROSBY: "We had a gig at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. After canceling
three shows, we had to decide whether or not to play. There would be a period of
national shock and mourning and we felt the same as everyone else. Then, at a certain
point, music is a unifying, uplifting thing. It's one of mankind's major magics.
We said, 'OK, this is our job. We need to help people come together and hold hands.'"

STEPHEN STILLS: "I'd had enough. 'If the terrorists' goal was to stop us,' I said 'screw 'em.'"

CSN performed 3 songs on the Tonight Show starring Jay Leno
this past Tuesday September 18th, 2001.
They played
Daylight Again >> Find the Cost of Freedom
Half Your Angels
(a Graham Nash unreleased song)
My Country Tis of Thee
This was the first Tonight show that was to be back on the air since it had been
pre-empted by breaking news since the World Trade Center disaster September 11th, 2001.
The guys put in an excellent performance - sans band.
It was a tremendous compliment to have CSN be asked to work this very muched
anticipated come back.
Kuddos to Mr Leno for having the foresight to book these guys-
the voice of our generation. And to the guys for forging ahead and being who they are,
people in tune with the times and the feelings of the public.

RollingStone.com Daily Music News
CSN Still Looking Forward
(Article excerpt)

A barefooted Graham Nash strolls across the well-warn carpet that has graced
so many Crosby, Stills and Nash stages and loudly proclaims to anyone
listening, "OK, we've got songs." At a rehearsal hall in Burbank,
California, it's obvious that CSN do have plenty of great songs to run
through while they prepare for their first major tour in five years.

With the band back in place, they run through a new Nash rocker
"Dirty Little Secret," which is about a little-known Southern race riot in the
1920's that still holds the record for the most casualties resulting from a
racial incident in American history.
Stephen Stills begins the song on
timbales, then switches over to an ancient Fender Strat for a bombastic,
searing solo.
The whole band (Mike Finnigan on organ, Joe Vitale on drums
and Gerald Johnson on bass) is working like one gigantic instrument.
As a
rock & roll band, Crosby, Stills and Nash have never sounded better.

"Yeah, it's gonna be a good tour," says David Crosby, who is doing double
duty fronting his own band, CPR, as well as his day job with CSN. CSN&Y had
a big year in 2000, with their Looking Forward album and subsequent tour. To
some extent, that experience has rubbed off on CSN today. "You know,"
continues Crosby, "it just gave it a little freshness again, because CSN&Y
is a completely different band, a completely different chemistry. We [CSN]
do different things; we do some of the same songs completely different. So,
coming from that to this gives freshness to this.
We got into a room
together and dug in and played and looked at each other and got grins all
over our faces. This is a rock & roll band; this is some serious stuff.
And
then we did a couple of acoustic things and they sounded really, really
good. CSN has been a great band for a lot of years, and I think that we're
getting to the point in our lives where we're grateful when we hear that
real stuff happen, and we look up and say, 'Ah, thank you, thank you -somebody's being nice to us.
The muse just came and sat on my shoulder again.'"

Well... it seems that the summer tour is shaping up
looks like a NY&CH euro tour???
This speculation comes from the confirmation of
a date @ the Oslo Spektrum in Norway July 4th, 2001

Keep your fingers crossed that this will
lead to a CSN tour in the states.
It's been since 1997 that we've had a real CSN tour.
That was the theatre tour.
Whatever happened to the good ole' summer tours
that you could count on from CSN???

The years have fled by too fast...

Been a long time coming. The last summer shed tour
was in 1996 , the co-headline tour with CHICAGO.

Here's hoping.

Ok, here's some more from the January issue of Mojo
(hey I gotta stretch some of my news eh!)
;-)

In the end page of the issue there is a regular column called Hello, Goodbye

This issue it's about GENESIS.
Phil Collins Interview by Johnny Black

It talks about how Phil Collins went to audition for Mike Rutherford, Peter Gabriel, and Tony Banks.

August 1970:
"Mike Rutherford came out wearing a smoking jacket and slippers. I thought, This is a band of
Noel Cowards. This is incredible... I listened to some of the other drummers (who were also auditioning)
so, by the time I was on, I kind of knew the songs... My initial reaction to the music was -
Crosby, Stills and Nash. It was soft and hazy music and I remember thinking, I could give a bit of balls to that."
