HBO taping

03/04/98 Chris Stills @ The Westbeth Theatre NYC
by Lorraine Kaczorowski
I went to the taping of an HBO music show called REVERB. I saw
several musical acts perform their set that was taped for the
series, including Kacy Crowley and Chris Stills! (At the time,
Kacy & Chris had just completed 10 day's of gigs at Border's Music
and Books).
Chris was in fine form. He hit the stage surrounded by a plethora
of wooden axes. He was accompanied by Ethan Johns, (son of classic
record producer Glynn Johns) and producer of Chris' current release
"100 Year Thing".
I had seen these two in an electric band format in November 1997
@ their Brownie's gig in NYC. At that time Ethan sat behind the
drum kit. This time, Ethan, a young captain manyhands, sang &
played various acoustic instuments including guitar & banjo, along
with Chris. He is a very accomplished musician.
Chris sang and played guitar great. He taped eight songs, and
one was the non-released "Jezebell". He intro'ed it as a song
that was about his "Mrs Robinson".
He did two takes on the song"Countryside", otherwise one take
on the other songs and they were outta there.
Great performance. |
