Fresh off their Woodstock redux, CS&N are indeed sounding young again,
even though a highlight of their new set is a lovely, languorous cover of the
Beatles' ''In My Life.'' The trademark Stills-Nash harmonies haven't lost a step
yet, as evidenced on hypnotic ''Find A Dream,'' which drops harmonica fills
into a gurgling bass line to beautiful effect, and on the chorus to ''Unequal
Love,'' a sweet, spare ballad that adds Hammond to the mix. The band does
seem out of step, though, on ''street-wise'' numbers like ''Bad Boyz'' and
''Street To Lean On,'' though the latter rolls along nicely on a chugging chorus.
For relevance, try instead ''It Won't Go Away.''

The long-awaited reunion of the pioneers of big-selling flashy vocal harmonies
soft-rock has finally taken place during the winter in Miami. The boys sound as
good as ever, with their spectacular wide-space harmonizing on their own
quirky, rueful ballads. The themes of the songs have changed somewhat from
cultural youth rebellion pains to the more subtle problems of retaining love and
creativity as one reaches full adulthood. Except for the more mature
thoughtfulness of the lyrics, this LP could well be a vault release from masters
made during the trio's heyday. The joy the threesome must feel at being able to
once again create such beautiful rock sounds comes across clearly with the
gusto of the performances. Crosby, Stills & Nash have returned to their
brilliant roots with all strength intact. Best cuts: "Shadow Captain," "Dark
Star," "Just A Song Before I Go," "See The Changes." Dealers: The trio will be
on a major tour this summer.

From the sound of this record, a listener could swear that David Crosby,
Stephen Stills and Graham Nash never age. The crystal clear harmonies are still
resounding, the lyrics are still pointed and the musicianship is flawless. "Wasted
On The Way," is already a hit single with its plaintive melody and perfect
execution. Other standout tracks include the near-accapella "Daylight Again,"
the rocking "Since I Met You" and the moody "Into The Darkness." For those
who think CSN are a group of the past, the last CSN album ("CSN") got to
number two in 1977.
