Lorraine’s notes from Tour 2003 The Allentown Fair These are my notes I took during the show. Transcribed for your reading pleasure. I write it as I see it. 08/28/03 Thursday REVIEW CSN @ The Allentown Fair - Allentown, PA by Lorraine Kaczorowski It’s the state fair tour! Been there done that already with my compadre catherine - was it 1997? or 1996? sideshow extravaganza!~ Carry On >>>>> Questions SS clear - pushing. Large stage fan (looks like a jumbo black flat screen tv) sits at the side of stephen - in front of Rance @ the board. Was told from the equipment truck drivers - (who were selling the merchandise at this stop, since there was no one else available from the venue to do so), that SS bought a large professional stage fan / cooler. Thus most of the photos that you have seen of the tour SS hair is set in a ponytail or looks like a large breeze going by - guess what? Its the cooling system blowing him away, and probably freezing the hell out of Nash... I hate the fact that noone gets it that now when they do Carry On they are going into Questions. After Carry On, they always applaud, but they should just wait for the pause and then the kick into QUESTIONS - one of the alltime greatest songs EVER! Remember - its all about the pause... Bright, clear, acapella part - beauty! Hot out the box - SS On Sharp - deliberate - on! SS same outfit as Syracuse - same shorts ensemble. State fair camper. Immigration Man GN Dressy 2nite Marrakesh Express Leeshore ss sang chorus EXCELLENT! Black w/ purple batik celtic throws over equipment NEW - nice. Wonder where they bought them, they have them @ the flea market in the village here next to Tower on B’way. Deja Vu Military Madness FYI - there is NO beer served anywhere @ this fair.... they should alert you in advance on a hot summers day... Therefore the crowd is a sitdown crowd - sans beer. There are good and bad points to this... SS New red Flying V guitar. Freaky surfer dude Stills - DUDE. Our captain the freak with the wind blowing like crazy.... Gn wore a Bowling shirt with black jeans. DC white short sleeved shirt and slacks. Sound overall bright and clear - loud & good. SS no phlegm. John Gonzales guitar tech for crosby & nash. Wasted on the Way DC not playing guitar alot. Grandstand here full almost capacity. "Wasted" better here I must say, SS sings - faster. GN plays his MARTIN signature series guitar its a beauty. For What It's Worth “streetah” today (syracuse - no streetah) Dirty Little Secret Dirty here is light and hot! Almost Cut My Hair Mick & Keith again I can feel them trying & feeling it all. Feel the music! The creativity of the act of playing - the strains of energy & emotion. Southern Cross All of a sudden crowd stands rushes & gets excited. This beer-less audience. As SS crackles a bit durin SC, they all play their MARTIN signature series guitars... Nazareth, PA is just a short distance from Allentown. Nazareth is where the MARTIN guitar factory is... BREAK 2nd set Helplessly Hoping CM >> Cathedral During SC SS said his guitar was made in Nazareth. Feed the People Intro SS was flustered and could not do proper intro. He stopped and restarted the song. I was worried that he froze but he did not - Good and he did not get visibly pissed. SS did a good salvage Long Time Gone GN gave SS some love. Told him it was ok when he had a problem w/ FTP. LTG is so close to THE SOUND of it all C S N. Just a Song Old Man Trouble went over great - well received! Guinnevere They Want It All Our House Croz joke on Nash - he threw a pick on the keyboards and GN thought it was a big bug. Stopped song. SS shook some powder on the floor - to help expedite possible spinning? No spinning though... Dark Star Intro to DS still canned. Why? Cuban runs again via Michael Kelly Finnigan. DS jam great but SS gets no love. Wooden Ships (Security let crowd stand and rush stage area. I went to stand in front.) Encore My Country Tis of Thee Woodstock w/ new red thin body Flying V guitar.
