Gilmour Shines With Crosby, Nash At Tour Opener
David Gilmour
David Gilmour got a boost from David Crosby and Graham Nash at the opening date of his North American tour last night (April 4) at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Crosby and Nash reprised their harmonies on "On an Island" (the title cut of Gilmour's new Columbia album) and stuck around for "The Blue," Pink Floyd's "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and the Stephen Stills-penned "Find the Cost of Freedom."
The first portion of the show featured a complete performance of "On an
Island," which debuted last month at No. 6 on The Billboard 200. Aside from his trademark electric guitar, Gilmour also dabbled in banjo and saxophone throughout the set.
The guitar heroics were ratcheted up to another level for the second set, which opened with Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett ode "Crazy Diamond" and also featured the Barrett solo track "Dominoes." The show closed with the classic rock evergreens "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb."
Gilmour's North American dates wrap April 20 in Los Angeles.

PRESS RELEASE
Be Stills, My Heart: Hall of Fame Rocker Stephen Stills to Play Keeping the
Beat Fundraiser for Austin Heart Foundation on April 15 at Riverbend Centre
The show, entitled Keeping the Beat, will benefit the Austin Heart
Foundation, and is designed to raise awareness about Automated External
Defibrillators (AEDs), which can help save the lives of heart attack victims
(for more information, see below).
Tickets for Keeping the Beat will go on sale on Valentines Day, Feb. 14
through Star Tickets (512-469-STAR or www.startickets.com). Ticket prices
are $35 - $150.
Stephen Stills consummate, innovative musicianship and songwriting has
established him as an eminent solo performer and as the cornerstone of the
super group Crosby, Stills & Nash. Both CSN and Stills earlier group,
Buffalo Springfield, have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
For five decades, Stills music has spanned generations and entertained
millions of listeners throughout the world. A founding member of both
Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills and Nash, Stills is responsible for
such perennial hits as For What Its Worth, Love the One Youre With,
Bluebird and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. A Texas native, his unique guitar
style and phrasing has garnered Stills a well-deserved spot among the best
players in the world.
Keeping the Beat is an education and awareness campaign designed to
demonstrate to Central Texans that Automatic External Defibrillators not
only save lives, they are safe and easy to use. Many people are unfamiliar
with AEDs and are afraid to use them. In Travis County there are over 200
AEDs in public places including the airport, law firms, semi conductor and
computer industry, churches, schools, office buildings and county and state
offices. However, less than 2% of AED applications were attempted by lay
people. The Foundation wants to encourage people to use AEDs because when
someone suffers a cardiac arrest, time is of the essence. Unless the heart
is restarted in less than 7 minutes, the victim will never return to a
normal life. A lay person can begin early defibrillation even before
professional first responders arrive. Keeping the Beat is brought to you by
Austin Heart, leaders in cardiac and vascular care.
About the Austin Heart Foundation:
The Austin Heart Foundation was created in 1999 as the philanthropic arm of
the Austin Heart cardiology group - a practice of 25 cardiologists in
Central Texas. Today, the Austin Heart Foundation is an independent 501(c)3
organization that exists to reach out to our community and fight heart
disease by providing programs designed to touch the lives of Central Texans.
The Foundation has taken an active role in the community providing youth
athlete screenings, educational seminars, and an education and awareness
campaigns about Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), all at no cost to
the public. Their vision is to make Central Texas a model community for
preventing death from cardiovascular disease. Austin Heart Foundation is
committed to reducing cardiovascular disease in Central Texas by promoting
education, awareness and life-saving technology. They are located at 3801 N.
