Crosby, Stills and Nash sell out two nights June 28 & 29 at Londons Hammersmith Apollo.
David, Stephen and Graham are so relaxed performing together you feel as though you are sitting in your living room
listening to friends play, albeit a very, very, very large living room. Their live harmonies are still first class and pure vintage
Crosby, Still, Nash and their songs carry a powerful message that is perhaps even more relevant today than ever.
It was great to hear some new songs too. Paul Rodgers

STEPHEN STILLS
MAN ALIVE!
NEW RECORD - August 2005

The Uk Single is "Wounded World" (A side) / Acadienne (B side)
It seems that in the US the first single is "Drivin' Thunder"

_Here is a good MAN ALIVE! record review from the BBC_
There's an amusing wryness to the title of this, Stills' first solo effort
for over ten years. While media attention has naturally gravitated towards
the bad boy antics of old bandmate David Crosby and his new liver, Stills
- a man whose substance abuse once led to him telling people he'd fought in
Vietnam - is no stranger to personal demons. He's a survivor, which probably
explains why he sings Booker T Jones' ''Ole Man Trouble'' so convincingly.
But the title also indicates that not only is Stills still with us on this
earthly plane, but he's in rude form too. Man Alive! runs the spectrum from
full-on rock to mellow acoustics with ease and energy to spare.
It's this diversity that's always set Stills apart from his comrades. Always
more than a standard West Coast hippie, from the days of Buffalo Springfield
he was showing an interest in what we would now describe as world music (ie:
the latino shuffle of ''Uno Mundo'') and Man Alive! shows him still
interested in stylistic exploration; especially of the roots music prevalent
in the southern states. Thus, while we get the reggae bump of ''I Don't Get
It'' we also get the New Orleans sway of ''Around Us'', the deep blues of
''Ole Man Trouble'', the bluegrass lament of ''Different Man'' and the Bayou
bounce of ''Acadienne''. If this weren't enough it's all capped off by the
11 minute meander south of the border with ''Spanish Suite'' (featuring
Herbie Hancock on piano!).
Stills' singing has, naturally, coarsened over the years, but it still has a
characteristic warmth, while his guitar playing (always underrated) is as
deft as always, though a little too four-to-the-floor on the rockier numbers
(which expose his Texas blues roots). It shines more on the gentler acoustic
grooves of ''Heart's Gate'', and ''Wounded World'' (with Graham Nash) and
his campfire vibe duet with Neil Young on ''Different Man'' takes you right
back to those stoney evenings of the early 70s.
Less political than Crosby and Nash (apart from the bland ''Feed The
People'') and less ornery than Young; Stills remains the true musician of
the West Coast royalty. Man Alive! seems to show that he's still got legs.
Long may he run...

FARM AID XX
To Return Back to Illinois....
Dave Matthews Joins Mellencamp And Nelson For Farm Aid
Benefit concert returns to Illinois roots for 20th anniversary show.
Farm Aid is going back to its roots. For the 20th anniversary edition of the benefit for American family farms, organizers are planning a show in Illinois, where the first Farm Aid launched in 1985. Headlined by co-founders Willie Nelson and John
Mellencamp, this year's show will feature sets from Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Wilco and more acts to be named soon.
The show, set for September 18 at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, Illinois, will be preceded by a week's worth of food and music events in Chicago that organizers said will showcase the city's efforts to "promote family-farm food by linking rural and urban communities." The events will include a county fair on September 17, a film festival, some small venue shows and the release of the Farm Aid book, "Farm Aid: A Song for America."
"From small towns to folks in the city, everybody knows family-farm food is the best," Farm Aid President Nelson said in a statement. "It's good to be back in Illinois where it all started. This state is showing how good food can connect places like [the site of the original 1985 show] Champaign and Chicago. It inspires us to think about family farmers every day. I'm looking forward to playing on the Farm Aid stage, playing music with my friends."
"Farmers have a tremendous impact on the quality of food that we eat," Mellencamp said. "Farm Aid is always a great show, but even more important is that Farm Aid helps the consumer and the family farmer work together for the benefit of all of us."
To date, the 17 Farm Aid shows have raised more than $27 million in support of family farms, according to organizers.

I have not seen this previously posted anywhere ...
I heard during the LIVE 8 Radio Broadcast, a backstage interview w/ DAVID GILMOUR.
David told the BBC radio host that he had just gone to see CSN while they were in the UK.
He gave the gents a glowing review. He went on to mention that CROSBY & NASH will appear on his forth-coming solo record in early 2006. Said they had recorded their parts during the winter C/N Euro tour.
You heard it here first!
