The NAMM Winter 2004 show is over and I see that Martin Announced several new guitars, including 2 Tom Petty Models, but nothing new in regards to a Triple O Stills series. Stay tuned...
January 15th - 18th, 2004 are the dates for the Winter 2004 NAMM Trade show About NAMM I am hoping that at this show CF Martin will announce the proposed Stephen Stills - Triple O Series Guitar. Stephen first mentioned this guitar to the public during his lecture @ the Univ of FLA this past October. Upon hearing about it, I contacted Martin, but they told me they could not divulge information about their forth-coming new products until the trade show. I will post more here when I get further info. lk
Speaking of the Martin Triple O Series...
In the Guitarist Book of Blues (published in the UK) pages 182-183 They mention Mr Stephen Stills...
Martin 000 Range Formed in the 1830's, CF Martn and Co. has established itself over the years as one of the finest producers of flat top acoustic guitars in the world. The Martin 000 range offer the player a timeless study in understated beauty. They all share the same tonal characteristics, a wonderful balance with a beautiful treble and a deep bass. They are very versatile and are owned by players of all genres of music. Hendrix owned a 1968 D-45 which he used for home demos.... Stephen Stills is another guitarist who used the Martin to play the blues most notably on Black Queen on his first self titled album. Clapton had four Signature models made after his name. He can be seen on the history making MTV Unplugged playing a vintage Martin. * * * Note - that guitar used on "Unplugged" lk
The December/January 2004 Issue of Santa Barbara Magazine features an article on DAVID CROSBY
This is a good interview. * * * DC: We heard a rumor that they wanted to rezone the Valley. That's a very scary thing to hear. SBM: Rezone how? DC: There's a state mandate for more affordable housing. Okay, fine. But there is no housing SBM: So you and Jan started going to the GPAC (General Plan Advisory Committee) meetings... DC: We have a lot of faith in democracy. We would die to defend it. We love this place and we went in good faith to do the right thing, be part of the process and say, "Gee, we don't think you should rezone it. We want to keep the rural character." SBM: Let's take a step back. State lawmakers are telling county supervisors that they must pencil in where affordable housing will be built. DC: I'm not saying that we can't accommodate any. I'm saying, don't put it where it will do harm. SBM: Where would you put it? DC: I can't speak to that because it's not my job to figure out where to put it. I can tell you where it's going to do great harm and I can tell you where it's not going to do great harm. That as far I can go. SBM: If supervisors don't do what the state says then the state doesn't pay back the county for its planning efforts. It's a stick that the state holds over the county's head . If you win this fight , you folks in the Valley could cost the entire county hundreds of thousands of dollars. DC: I asked them how much. They said "$600,000." I said, "Will you take a check?" I was just being obnoxious, you can tell the state to shove it. Maybe we should, and maybe we shouldn't. Listen, my real problem is with why they want tp put it where it shouldn't go. The only advantage to putting it here in Santa Ynez or in Los Olivos is that it will make the developers a lot more money. End of excerpt. http://www.sbmag.com/home.html
