LIVE SHOWS

16th Annual Bridge School Concert

by Jaan Uhelszki

Excerpt:

That's not to say Neil Young will retire anytime soon. despite the fact that he looked

everyone of his 57 years, grizzled and worn in his weather-beaten fedora and red and black

flannel shirt. As is traditional, he opened the show with three crowd-pleasers, The Old Laughing Lady,

Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, and From Hank to Hendrix, punctuating the songs with a

welcome to his line-up of stars. "I'd like to break the ice for all the incredible people we have here

tonight and all the great people who play every year. It always blows my mind.

There are some people who say that happened a long time ago.

But that's OK. I don't care, as long as it still blows."

Wounded Bird Records

"Despite being an integral part of the Byrds, the Flying Burrito

Brothers, Manassas, and the Desert Rose Band, Chris Hillman has rarely received the commercial

success he deserves with his solo releases. His late 70's albums SLIPPING AWAY and

CLEAR SAILING are two of his most neglected. Both veer on the polished side of the singer

songwriter mode with a slant

towards country rock but they feature some great songs and playing.

The cd version brings out some of the

subtle in of the title cut, the meatier rocker "Witching Hour" (by Stills) - lk

and the vibrant bluegrass stomper "(Take Me in Your) Lifeboat."
