On a lite note...

Comedy Centrals' DAVE ATTELL recently did an episode of his show

from Little Rock ARK

Among others there he met with the infamous

Sweet sweet Connie....

You know, of Grand Funk Railroad fame

"On the road for forty days,
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze.
Sweet, sweet Connie -- doin' her act,
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact."

Of note for us here is that among other photo's and memorabilia adorning her walls at home
was a photo of CSN that she pointed out to Dave.

Excerpt of the review from the Tower records site

"... although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any
of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the
other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper
has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he
lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that
Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth."

Been meaning to post these for a while.
Finally scanned them for your perusal and enjoyment!

This is some pertinent content from Ahmet Ertegun's epic book

What I'd Say The Atlantic Story - 50 Years of Music.

This is a oversized coffeetable book - choc full of tidbits, great stories, musicians, and photo ops.

Obviously quite alot from the boys, BS, CSN and CSNY, et al....

The following text is quoted from AHMET ERTEGUN on page 257 ©

"Stephen Stills made alot of records on his own. He's an artist who really should be making solo records today, because he is a special
kind of guitar player. As opposed to the British guitar players, who play in the style of black musicians they listened to, Stephen has his
own original style of playing. He's also very much into black music and he can play the blues, but his blues have got a bit of
country tinge to them .He's a natural musician, a great singer, and a very good songwriter. He wrote 'Love the One You're With
in his hotel room when we were bothstaying at the Plaza Athene Hotel in Paris."

* * *

"Once when Stephen was recording in London, the night before one of the sessions, I think he'd gotten drunk in a West Indian bar and
he endedup hiring the drummer and the bass player from the band that was playing in the club. Jimi Hendrix was also a great friend
of Stephen's, so the nextnight he had Hendrix and Eric Clapton playing with him in the studio. They had already laid down the rhythm track
with the drummer and thebass player from the club, and the three guitarists were doing overdubs. I was sitting in the control room with
these two cats that Steve Stills had picked up the night before. One of them looked at me and said, 'Are you with the record company?' I said,
'Yeah.' He said, 'Who arethose guys?' I figured maybe they'd heard of them, so I said, 'That's Jimi Hendrix.' They had no idea who
that was, and they certainly did not know Clapton or Stephen Stills. He pointed to Steve and said, 'Well that cat was in the club last night.'
Then they looked at me and one of them said,"Are we going to get paid?' I said, 'Yeah, you're going to get paid.'
You can imagine how great the music was. Those are unforgettable moments."

Spotlight on:
MICHAEL FINNIGAN

Since the band is back on the road with
Mr Michael 'Kelly' Finnigan, it's time to look back at some of his past work.

This is his 1976 release
Read here his bio - liner notes from the record

Michael Finnigan, whose album you are now fingering , is a dazzling keyboard player
and a giant among musicians. Six -foot-six, 30 years old ("but I have a 68-year-old liver," he
admits proudly). Finnigan was born in Troy, Ohio. from which he migrated to Kansas, college
(on a basketball scholarship, not surprisingly), and music, in that order, making his album
debut as a member of the Serfs. Later, in San Francisco, Finnigan joined the Jerry Hahn
Brotherhood, then formed Finnigan and Wood with former Kansas cohorts. They made a
cultishly cherished but generally ignored album; "It was hard to keep everybody eating,"
Finnigan laments. For the past two years he has lived in Los Angeles and played behind
Dave Mason and the silken voiced Maria Muldaur, who helped bring him to her label.

And now the big kid from Ohio presents his very own solo album, for which he has assembled
excellent songs and players of divergent styles - Dixieland, boogie-woogie, country, ballads,
rock & roll (remember?), all held together with a strong, clear, untrammelled voice.

"I want to have a lot of different kinds of songs," Finnigan says, but I didn't want to get so eclectic
I'd seem too precious for words. Didn't want to be pigeonholed either." So he made this
sweetly naive, brassily self-assired album. You'll like it.
